Stealth and Detection

Some units are covert: an army made only of covert units is invisible to enemies unless a detector reveals it. Covert units belong to a domain (land, sea or air) and can only be revealed by a detector of that domain, or by one that covers every domain.

How a reveal works

  • Every detector scans its detection radius once every 10 minutes; each covert army inside gets a detection roll.
  • A successful roll reveals the army for 30 minutes.
  • Fighting always reveals a covert army, and a bombarding unit such as the B2 Bomber is revealed when it fires. The reveal is temporary.
  • A single non-covert unit in the army makes the whole army visible.
  • The research focus Detection Radius widens detection ranges, and some equipment items reduce the detection chance of the unit carrying them.

Missions built on detection

Several intelligence missions use these rules: Counter-Intelligence (detect covert enemy armies), Sub Hunt (detect a submarine with a Destroyer or AWACS), Interception (destroy an army your country revealed before its 30-minute reveal expires), Decapitation (wipe a revealed covert army) and, on the covert side, Infiltration and Silent Passage.
