Diplomacy

Countries relate to each other as allies, neutrals or enemies at war, and can group into coalitions.

Relations

  • Propose alliance / End alliance: alliances are offered and accepted through proposals.
  • Declare war: opens hostilities. Hostile territory blocks or shortens army routes, and attacks are only possible against enemies.
  • Propose peace: a peace offer must be accepted by the other side.
  • Diplomatic events (proposals, declarations, coalition changes) are listed in the Diplomacy category of reports.

Coalitions

  • A country can found a coalition (a bloc), invite others, and leave, kick members or disband it. Countries in the same coalition are shown as such on the map and in filters.
  • Coalition rules limit the number of member countries per bloc, lock a country in for a period after it joins, and impose a cooldown before it can join another bloc.
  • A coalition can declare war as a bloc and propose bloc peace.
  • Coalition size is a ranking metric.

Occupation and reparations

  • When a country's homeland is more than 90% occupied, the largest occupier owes it a debt of war reparations.
  • The debt settles when the occupier capitulates to that country or is wiped by it: a share of the occupier's national wallet is transferred.
  • An occupied capital also suspends industry policies and leaks part of the production tax to the occupier (see Government).
  • Wars won and reparations collected are ranking metrics.
